Background and Rationale

The project aims to promote socio-professional integration of AIDS Orphans and Vulnerable Children (AOVC). This requires training in breeding techniques (rearing Guinea Pigs, of Cane rats, raising poultry) and fish with support in view to achieving financial autonomy of the young, and thus reduces poverty. Training AOVC and making available a testing center is an added value, so this is an innovation for this project. It is also consistent with the national employment policy to promote the application of labor-based approaches. This approach is the use of a large workforce to promote youth employment in public investment and the promotion of self employment. The high rate of AOVC not supported leads to poor living conditions, juvenile delinquency, and unemployment. This project was developed to help improve the situation of these children.
